08 Aug Packing the Bikes
This past weekend we disassembled and packed our bikes in preparation for our next big tour. If you’re just tuning in to our BLOG we are headed to Europe next week and will spend a month touring through Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, Austria, and Germany. Anyway… back to packing our bikes. Hopefully we’ll be able to answer one of the biggest questions we get every time we travel: “How do you pack your bikes?”.
Before getting to the pictures below, I’ve already removed the following items: wheels, fenders, racks, handlebar, lighting system, GPS, pedals, bottle cages, air pump, seat & seat post, kickstands, and rear derailleur.
Removing final pieces and installing the protective padding
Step 1 - Front triangle with fork

Step 3 - Rear triangle with cranks
Step 4 - Work the handlebars in.

Step 6 - Fill in the empty spots with panniers, fenders, parts, tools, bottles, & front rack
Finished product! The bags measure 26x26x10 and weigh as close to 70lbs as possible.
