16 Sep Bike touring from Bratislava to Vienna, & Beyond
Before continuing our bike tour from Bratislava to Vienna and beyond we wanted to mail of a few post cards. While waiting for the Post Office to open we had some fun with a Bratislava’s most famous paparazzi and watched a poor sap get his tire booted by the local Police! Eventually the post office opened and we mailed off some post cards then started our ride out of town.
Not long after rolling out from Bratislava we picked up the bike path and are headed towards Vienna. The plan is to spend a couple hours having some fun at “Der Prater” (Google/Bing it) and then head out of Vienna and stay the night somewhere along the Donau. The ride started out nice, but it soon became very windy to extremely windy and we were wishing we had the mountains of Romania instead of the nasty headwind. Needless to say, by the time we reached Vienna we were whooped; however, we stuck to our plan and made our way to “Der Prater.” Once there we rode a couple of rides, including the famous Wiener Riesenrad (giant Ferris wheel), and enjoyed some hot chocolate and a huge garlicky Langos (a giant piece of bread, deep fried then smothered in butter and garlic) before continuing riding to our next destination—Langenlebarn.
