Day 222 – 232 (12/22 Oct 2013)- After our boat escapade we look for a campground near Colchester or Dover to spend the next 2 or 3 weeks. However, the couple of campgrounds we pass by already closed their tent-pitches for the winter. Since Ute was not ready to leave Scotland anyway, and none of us looked forward to spending the next two weeks in the crowded, overpopulated southeast area of England, we decide
Arriving in Colchester
We signed up for HelpX a while a go and we finally have a chance to start on our first HelpX experience! It is already late in the evening when we arrive in Colchester and we are all excited to start working on a 60 year old river cargo boat. About 6 weeks ago, a Lady contacted us through ‘HelpX’ to help restore the ship that used to deliver drinking water to other boats on the Themes and is supposed to be the last one of its kind. The restoration has already been in the making for about one year
Day 214 – 219 (4/9 Oct 2013) - It is raining all morning, so it takes a little while to pack up all of our belongings and bikes back into Ute’s car.We really would have liked to kept cycling, but there was no way we could have made it into southern England in
Day 209 – 210 (28/29 Sept 2013)-In the morning, we get a wake up call from our new duck-friends, that are knocking on our tent. Those guys must be used to getting fed by people visiting the beach area and are insistent on getting something to eat from us as well. After a few minutes of enjoying the view of Loch Tay and the surrounding
Day 207 (27 Sept 2013) – Morning comes quickly, but we get ourselves moving slowly. We are amazed at how quickly we became unconditioned from traveling by car for a few weeks. Both of us had several leg cramps during the night, our butts are sore, and it takes us a moment to get going.
Day 206 (26 Sep 2013) - After spending a week hiking and hanging out near Aviemore, we decide it is time to get going again. Ute’s plan is to go look for a friend near the east coast and our plan is to cycle south and toward Dunoon, where we want to visit Gary and Deb. Gary and Deb are a very nice couple we have met while traveling through Spain and we were invited to
Day 200 - 205 (20/25 Sept 2013) - Since we have to stay out of the "Schengen area" for 90 days before returning to mainland Europe, we decide to take some down time near Aviemore. What else do we have to do for the next few weeks??!! We find a fabulous campground right outside the village, which makes us feel like we are still wild camping, due to its layout of tent pitches. Also, it is close enough to
