03 Oct Traveling around Lairg, Inverness & Loch Ness
Day 191 – 199 (11/19 Sept 2013) – We found a small little campsite in Lairg, where we set up for a couple of days before heading further south toward Inverness. The weather is changing again and we get rained on frequently, occasionally the sun shines, and the wind is strong and cold. The locals like to call the four seasons in one day “fine Scottish weather”. For us it makes it hard trying to figure out what to wear for the day… so we all have on several layers that we put on or shed several times during the day. Yet, the “fine Scottish weather” is not stopping us from hiking and exploring the area as we travel through this part of Scotland. Apparently it is true to say, there is no bad weather…just not the right gear!
On our way to Inverness, we find a nice hike leading to a waterfall. Supposedly, salmon come up this waterfall during the summer. Unfortunately, we could not even spot one…maybe this is a sign that summer is over. Even at Loch Ness, we could not find a sign of Nessi, everything seems to hide from us. Instead, we found plenty of blueberries and blackberries to add to our deserts.
