Jekyll Island

Jekyll Island

KOA Campground, GeorgiaAfter a late morning start, getting our webpage fixed, eating some gigantic Belgium waffles, and riding against headwind all day we have arrived at Jekyll Island!

savingturtle_pedalpowertouringOn the way there we had the pleasure of saving a little box turtle from getting squashed on a four-lane highway and seeing the scenery change from pine-woods along our route to Georgia marshland along the coast. Most of our route went along actual bike routes–Route 95 going north and Route 10 going east all the way to our destination.

jekyllisland_1_pedalpowertouringAs we finally rode over the bridge to get onto beautiful Jekyll Island, we realized how beat we really are and decided we need a break, or possible a down day.

Jekyll Island seems to be just the place to do that–the island is gorgeous, the campground very nice with warm showers, and there is a nice little community room to relax and charge all the gadgets.

Jekyll Island is just too nice to NOT stay for a day to recharge the batteries, legs, and soul. Remember, it’s a bike tour, not a brevet… Thanks for the posts and the pictures!

You are right Rollie, Jekyll Island IS a wonderful place to recharge! We really are not trying to rush up the coast, but for some reason it still has not sunk in yet, that this is it! We do not have to rush to get back to work 🙂
